Devices & requirements
Almost any Android phone with a SIM works. Here's the honest floor, the phones we've actually run, and how to keep one serving around the clock.
Requirements
- Android 8.0 or newer — stock ROM, no root, no ADB tricks. The app uses ordinary Android network APIs.
- A SIM with mobile data — the proxy exits through this SIM's carrier IP. A generous or unlimited data plan is best.
- Always-on power — a charger or a powered USB hub for phones that run continuously.
- Wi-Fi (optional) — enables Wi-Fi split to roughly halve mobile-data use.
Tested devices
This is a growing list of phones we've run ourselves — not a marketing catalogue. If a stock Android 8+ phone isn't here, it very likely still works; we just haven't personally logged it yet.

Keeping a phone online 24/7
- Exempt the app from battery optimization. The app links you to the right screen during setup. This is the single most common cause of a proxy going offline.
- Keep it charged, not pinned at 100%. For 24/7 shelves, a charge range around 40–80% is kinder to the battery than trickling at full.
- Give it airflow. Phones packed tightly on a shelf run hot; heat throttles the radio and shortens battery life.
